About Vertical Dance

What is Vertical Dance ?
Developed in the nineties, the concept of Vertical dance is a combination of rock climbing and choreographed movement. Today, there are more than 50 companies in the world performing primarily in North America and Europe. Vertical Dance transforms the usual horizontal perspective of a stage to the vertical plane facade of a building, therefore challenging the spectator's view point.
Furthermore, the concept questions the meaning of architecture and its usage. Vertical dance investigates the definition of architecture, more so in the way owe perceive it and use it. The vertical dancer challenges the spectator to view urban space in different ways, thus generating a different perspective on our concepts of cities and the use of architectural structures.
